Questions creators ask

+What are the YouTube monetization requirements?

For ad revenue: 1,000 subscribers plus either 4,000 public watch hours in the last 12 months or 10,000,000 Shorts views in the last 90 days. The fan-funding tier needs 500 subscribers, 3 public uploads in 90 days, and 3,000 watch hours or 3,000,000 Shorts views.

+Are the YouTube monetization requirements changing in 2027?

Yes. From February 1, 2027, new applicants need 1,000 subscribers plus 8,000 watch hours in 365 days or 20,000,000 Shorts views in 90 days. Channels already in the program keep their status.

+Do I keep earning from Shorts after the change?

From February 1, 2027, a channel needs 10,000,000 Shorts views every 90 days to share in that month’s Shorts revenue. Missing it doesn’t remove you from the program or affect long-form earnings.

+How old do you have to be to monetize on YouTube?

18, or a parent or guardian over 18 handles the payments through their AdSense account.
