Influencer contract template
This is a starting point written for creators, not legal advice. Laws differ by country and state; for a large or long deal, have a lawyer read it before you sign.
What a sponsored-post contract adds
- Posting schedule. The date and time window for each post, and how long it stays live.
- Approvals. Whether the brand sees the post before it goes up, and how fast it answers.
- Disclosure. In the US, the FTC expects a clear disclosure of the brand relationship in the post itself. Other countries have similar rules.
- Performance reporting. Which stats you send after posting (views, reach, link clicks) and when.
- Exclusivity. Which competitors you will not promote, and for how long.
The FTC’s plain-language guide for influencers is Disclosures 101 for Social Media Influencers.
SPONSORED CONTENT AGREEMENT
Between [Creator name] ("Creator") and [Brand legal name] ("Brand"), dated [date].
1. Campaign
Creator will promote [product/service] on Creator's own accounts as follows:
- [1 x Instagram Reel, 30–60 seconds, posted between (date) and (date)]
- [3 x Instagram Stories with a link sticker to (URL), posted the same day]
Posts stay live for at least [90] days.
2. Content and approvals
Creator controls the creative approach. Brand will share key messages and any required claims by [date]. Creator will send a draft [48] hours before posting; Brand may request one round of factual corrections within [24] hours. Brand will not ask Creator to make claims Creator has not been able to verify.
3. Disclosure
Creator will clearly disclose the paid relationship in each post, in the way the platform and applicable law require (for example "#ad" or the platform's paid-partnership label, placed where viewers see it without clicking "more").
4. Reporting
Within [7] days of the last post, Creator will send screenshots of views, reach, engagement and link clicks for each post.
5. Usage
Brand may repost the content on its own accounts with credit to Creator for [12 months]. Running the content as a paid ad, from Brand's accounts or Creator's (whitelisting / Spark Ads), is [not included / included for (30) days for $(amount)].
6. Exclusivity
Creator will not post paid content for [list of direct competitors] from [date] to [date].
7. Fee and payment
Total fee: $[amount] [currency]. [50]% due on signing, [50]% due within [14] days of the final post. Late payments add [1.5]% per month.
8. Cancellation
If Brand cancels after Creator has started production, Brand pays [50]% of the fee; after the content is delivered for approval, [100]%.
9. Conduct and removal
Either party may end the agreement if the other acts in a way that seriously harms its reputation. If Brand ends it for this reason, fees for work already delivered remain payable.
10. General
Governed by the laws of [state/province, country]. This is the whole agreement and can only be changed in writing.

Questions creators ask
+Do I have to disclose sponsored posts?
In the US, the FTC expects influencers to disclose any material connection with a brand clearly, in the post itself. Most platforms also have a paid-partnership label. Check the rules in your own country too.
+Should the brand approve my post before it goes live?
A short factual review is normal. Limit it to one round with a deadline, so a slow reply doesn’t push back your posting date.
+What is exclusivity in an influencer contract?
A promise not to promote named competitors for a set time. It costs you other deals, so it is usually priced as an add-on.
